NY RANGERS: PRESEASON GAME 3 PREVIEW VS. ISLANDERS

By: Matthew Blittner

Welcome to Bridgeport, Connecticut!

After playing their first two preseason games in the friendly confines of Madison Square Garden the Rangers will hit the road for a back-to-back set starting on Friday night at the Webster Bank Arena against the Islanders.

After facing the Isles on Friday, the Blueshirts travel to Newark, New Jersey to take on the Devils Saturday night.

Through two games, the Rangers are a perfect 2-0 in preseason play, thanks to consecutive overtime wins against the Islanders and Devils.

Friday night in Bridgeport the Blueshirts will look to go 2-0 against the rival Islanders and continue to establish momentum as they prepare for the regular season. Game time is 7:30pm EST and will be broadcast on MSG Networks.

The big story for the Rangers has been the play of their rookies, specifically that of their first-round draft picks Lias Andersson and Filip Chytil.

Monday night against the Isles, Andersson had the primary assist on Neal Pionk's game-winning tally. Then on Wednesday night, Chytil netted the game-winner off a cross-ice pass from Mats Zuccarello with 3.5 seconds remaining in overtime.

Both first-rounders have been impressive thus far. They, along with several other prospects have been at the forefront of the Blueshirt's strong start.

Last season the Rangers led the NHL in wins (27) and points (56) on the road and had a 27-12-2 record. The Rangers also led the NHL in goal differential (plus-28), tied for the NHL lead in goals against (97), and tied for fourth in the NHL in goals for (125) on the road.

The Blueshirts are looking to continue their strong road play as they prepare for the regular season, and this road trip to Connecticut -- and then Newark -- is good practice for what lies ahead.

Against the Isles, the Rangers will feature the following lineup:

GOALTENDERS
31 Ondrej Pavelec
80 Chris Nell

SKATERS
10 J.T. Miller
12 Matt Puempel
13 Kevin Hayes
23 Bobby Farnham

47 Steven Kampfer
51 David Desharnais
63 Ryan Graves
72 Filip Chytil
76 Brady Skjei
77 Tony DeAngelo
82 Adam Tambellini
84 Malte Stromwall
